March is an ideal time to sail in Miami with average windspeed of 10-15 knots and matching air/water temperatures of 26 degreesC. Get ready for the RS Fest Miami, the first EVER major multi-class RS Sailing event in North America. For the budget-conscious solo traveler-during my February stay, the rate was $210 per night plus taxes and a reasonable cleaning fee, but we've seen it listed for as low as $127 per night-or couple who wants a Miami stay that is special and enchanting, I highly recommend booking a few nights at Chelsea's guest house."Party in the city where the heat is on. Next time I'm in town, I definitely plan to return and make it my home base again. The cottage became so much like home to me, and I became so attached to it, that I felt truly sad to go come check out on Sunday. (Pool floats can be provided on request, and the backyard is shared with the owners, but I had it to myself as they were out of town during my stay.) (I suggest ordering a bottle of Envinate's Canary Island wine if they have one.) And after an intense Core Power Yoga class on Saturday morning, we did a full swim session. At night, we got dressed up and ready at the rental before heading to nearby Niu Kitchen-a sleek spot with creative Spanish small plates and a terrific wine list. Come 6 p.m., we were drinking wine and dangling our legs in the pool as we gossiped. We snacked outside on the patio, where a folding table with colorful chairs was sheltered and made private by a creative garden of hanging potted plants. The first day we grabbed a walkable lunch at Honey Uninhibited, ordering avocado eggs Benedicts and cold brews, and the second day we picked up takeout from the Venezuelan outpost Budare Bistro and feasted on arepas, devoured sweet plantains, and washed it all down with Sprites. My friend drove over, which was a cinch since the property had on-site parking, and co-worked with me for the next two days. It was the perfect way to kick back before logging on to start my work day. The warm, slightly humid, 75-degree air was ideal, and the toasty feeling of the sun on my skin was exactly why I came to Miami. After making coffee in the sunny kitchen the next morning, I brought the mug outside, geckos scuttling into the shadows as I passed, and laid out with a book on one of the comfy, white poolside sun loungers. It has an air of mystery and makes waking up somewhere new in the morning an exciting surprise-and I was lucky to have that experience at Chelsea's guest house. I love arriving at a destination by night.
